Pinching A Nerve? Why Chiropractic Likes To Get You Off Of Your Nerves

Pinching A Nerve? Why Chiropractic
Likes To Get You Off Of Your Nerves

Have you ever experienced bad neck pain in Mount Maunganui? How about persistent sciatica or constant tingling down your arm? The most likely cause of these conditions is a pinched or trapped nerve. Pinched nerves are often extremely painful and if left unattended, can lead to more chronic or permanent damage within the body.

So, what causes pinched nerves?

The most simple answer is a displaced bone (usually within the spine) pressing on certain nerves which ultimately leads to pain or discomfort.

Within my Mount Maunganui clinic, I see many golfers with raging sciatica and many desk-based professionals with chronic neck pain or numbness in one or both arms. Often, these patients are coming to me because they are at their wits end. The pain killers prescribed by their Doctors are no longer working and Physio is only providing temporary relief.

That’s because the problem is structural.

While pain killers may be effective at masking the pain in the short term, they do not correct the actual cause of the condition, which is misaligned bones, pinching and affecting certain nerves.

Likewise, the vast majority of my patients have already tried Physio when they come into the clinic and while they experienced some relief, the condition persisted because the structural issue had not been corrected.

I should note that I am not anti-medication or anti-Physio. There is a place for both. Physio in particular, is excellent for certain injury rehabilitation. In fact, when I badly sprained my wrist in 2009, it was my specialized Hand Physio who got me back to work quickly.

However, my injury wasn’t structural. I had tendon and muscle damage that required specialized rehabilitation.

Chiropractic Care for Pinched Nerves in Mount Maunganui

When it comes to structural correction, Chiropractic is extremely effective at not only relieving the pressure on nerves but also guiding the misaligned bones back to normal, so that the relief is permanent.

As a Chiropractor, while I really feel bad for my patients who come to me in pain, I am not focused on their pain.

My sole focus is to check the spine (and sometimes extremities) for misaligned vertebrae (or bones) that may be pinching and affecting certain nerves. I then use a light, specific ‘adjustment’ of those bones to release pressure and restore mobility and function within that particular joint.

It’s that simple; and permanent relief for pinched nerves can be that simple too, using a combined approach of Chiropractic, light exercise and potentially some minor lifestyle changes.

If you are tolerating neck pain, sciatica, or numbness and tingling in your extremities, I invite you to book in for a complimentary consultation with me to see if Chiropractic is the right solution for your particular condition.

For the majority of those checked in our clinic with these sorts of problems, there has either been a significant overall improvement or it has completely solved the problem. If you or someone you know is suffering from a pinched nerve or other problems, call us at 07 574 3099 for a complimentary consultation and to set up a time to have your spine and nervous system checked.
